SCREAM 4?

Dimension Films...greedy bastards? You bet!  But hey, if your film company made a trilogy as successful as the Scream Trilogy, wouldn't you want to take advantage of that?  I know I probably would.  Who knows...Scream 4 could be good.  Just look at how well Scream 3 did without Kevin Williamson.

Wes Craven emailed MorbidMuch of SequelBuzz.com and Scream-Trilogy.com the following message:

Hello! Wes Craven here-- with some news I thought you might want to know! Dimension Films contacted me and asked if I would be interested in directing Scream 4. I declined. They have a screenwriter attached to the project and they're trying for a 2002 release. WC

So...Scream 4 is coming in 2002 (or Dimension is trying to release it then...).  They already have a screenwriter.

I'm guessing that Wes Craven doesn't want any part of Scream 4.  He already has several projects which will keep him busy for the next couple of years.  So...no more Wes-directed Screams.

David Arquette said that if there is another Scream, then there will have to be a new plot, new characters, a new cast, and now...a new director.  Neve Campbell said, "It's called a trilogy so how could there be a fourth?  None of us want to dig this into the ground we want to go out with a bang.  We don't want to get bored and we don't want the audience to get bored."

Well...it seems that Scream 4 won't have anything that made it wonderful and original in the first place.  Could Scream 4 still be good?  Ehren Kruger managed to make Scream 3 great.  Could a new cast, a new director, a new screenwriter, and a whole new storyline keep Scream 4 above the not-so-good dead-teen films?
